Next Saturday 30th May is our annual Campoverde Open Garden Day. This is an event that I organise every year for my village Church. But I have been away at my UK house and Cruella (my wife) and her girls have had a sleepover and invited Blackbirds.
In what I can only assume was some sort of orgy of destruction they have wantonly dug up all my Petunia seedlings from their seed trays. I am bereft these were special ones I had grown from the best of last year.
Since the first act of destruction I have replanted twice only to be struck by other raids. I have now taken to hiding my seedlings in new places every night, but by the next morning they have been dug up again. I think one of the chickens is spying on me and informing the Blackbirds!
To be honest I am too upset to go on writing this post but I’ll will just finish off by showing you the length I have had to go to protect my seedlings. My potting bench now looks like a prison camp I have so much protection. See photos below and click on each one for a larger view.

Anyway, if you would like to come along to Open Garden we would love to see you, see poster below.

If you do want to come along to Open Garden Day and commiserate with me then just so you know Pinar de Campoverde is south of Torrevieja and just inland from the town of Pilar de la Horadada in Alicante Province. The map below shows you the location of each garden.
